During and after an emergency government funded help may not arrive quickly if at all. Demand and price go up as supplies become scarce. Under extreme circumstances rioting, looting and general anarchy can result in the imposition of martial law. Fostering a calm sense of readiness by encouraging the purchase of preparedness products at a fair price before a crisis may prove to be our best defense against the suspension of the civil liberties which define the very essence of what it means to be an American.
